No one who writes an op-ed should be arrested, detained, or deported for expressing their free speech point of view.

It appears Ozturk was targeted because she co-authored an opinion editorial in the student newspaper a year ago calling on the university to divest from companies with ties to Israel because of the war in Gaza. Yet freedom of the press is guaranteed by the U.S Constitution and must be fiercely protected by everyone who believes in the rule of law.
